Dr Malcolm Kendrick, Scottish family doctor, author, skeptic and heterodox thinker, has been a huge influence on your humble writer.

He has consistently spoken his truth, mostly against the Lipid Hypothesis of heart disease, but recently on the madness that has been the COVID response. His takes are always insightful, witty and wise. He is truly one of the OGs of the #RootCauseMedicine movement.

Dr Kendrick just released his latest book, The Clot Thickens, which breaks down the #RootCauses of cardiovascular disease (aka coronary artery disease, ischemic heart disease).

He makes an extremely strong case for the Thrombogenic Hypothesis of heart disease which places blood clotting, not raised blood cholesterol levels, at the center of the process. From the initial event that damages the blood vessel, to the repeated insults that build the plaque, to the heart attack that lands someone in the ER.

He draws together a fascinatingly diverse set of conditions, observations and pieces of clinical evidence, from lead exposure to rheumatoid arthritis to sickle cell disease, factors that seemingly bear no relationship to each other, and unites them concisely within this framework.

In The Clot Thickens, Dr Malcolm Kendrick so thoroughly destroys the idea that raised cholesterol (i.e. low-density lipoprotein) is the chief causal factor in the development of heart disease that we can firmly declare it dead in the water. Floating face down.

In fact he exposes Ancel Keys’ Lipid Hypothesis to be so worn out, obsolete and scientifically damaged that it is obvious to anyone who merely scratches the surface of the topic that it is simply being kept alive by the tainted dollars of Big Pharma, Seed Oil Industry and the Processed Food Industry.

As I documented in The Corruption of the Human Diet, the Lipid Hypothesis has been used to justify

  1. the war on nutrient-dense, ancestrally appropriate animal fat

  2. the rise of the trillion-dollar statin industry, and

  3. continued funding of recommendations of the consumption of industrially-refined seed oils (canola, soy, corn, safflower, vegetable, etc.).

Collectively, these three movements have caused untold iatrogenic harm and seriously harmed public health in the past century. Truly diabolical work by Big Pharma and the Industrial Food Complex, an entity I have collectively named the Medical-Pharmaceutical-Agricultural-Complex (#MPAC).

Unfortunately, the vast majority of family doctors, cardiologists, endocrinologists and dietitians still hold the Lipid hypothesis as gospel. They still advise and prescribe abstience from animal fat, statins for primary prevention of heart disease and consumption of plant oils ‘to lower cholesterol’. Very misguided.

Anyone reading this who

  • prescribes statins regularly for primary prevention of cardiovascular disease

  • works at a pharmaceutical company developing the next generation of lipid lowering medications

  • works in the agricultural growing, processing, selling of seed oil crops or grains

  • advises people to eat less saturated fat and more refined plant oils for ‘heart health’

Stop what you are doing, take a good hard look in the mirror and re-appraise your life. Start educating yourself. You are contributing to the problem of sickness and disease, not helping it, despite your intentions. The truth is out there, the truth will prevail and you are on the wrong side of history.

That aside. The Thrombgenic Hypothesis is an extremely powerful mental model that allows you to conceptualize your individual risk of cardiovascular disease based on the health and lifestyle factors that damage the inner lining of your blood vessels (the endothelium).

It also clarifies the reason why we are seeing heart disease and blood clots in COVID virus and vaccination – the spike protein is directly toxic to the endothelium.

Here are some selected advice from the book on what to do to protect your endothelium and reduce your risk of having a heart attack (in no way substitute for reading it yourself)

  1. Increase your sun exposure

  2. Breath through your nose

  3. Consume foods such as animal meat and organs, rich in l-arginine. All three of which increase your natural production of nitric oxide, a potent anti-clotting factor

  4. Avoid vitamin D deficiency

  5. Avoid chronic stress and social isolation

  6. Avoid insulin resistance and diabetes by reducing consumption of refined sugars and grains

Sound familiar? These are all highly ancestrally appropriate diet and lifestyle choices. They would have been the norm in our hunter gather past when when heart attacks were non-existent. Live in an ancestrally appropriate way and health looks after itself.

In any case, this book is is an essential read for every doctor. It would be of interest to the intelligent lay person or biohacker who is happy to grapple with some fairly detailed physiology.

I’m extremely optimistic for the future of medicine where we bring an engineering mindset to truly understand, prevent and treat the #RootCauses of disease - in a way that isn’t influenced by #MPAC corporate money. Dr Malcolm Kendrick is a maven and a titan of this movement who has weathered slings and arrows for decades.

The Socrates of 21st Century medicine. Hopefully no hemlock required.

So read his book, read his blog and implement the measures that Dr Kendrick recommends to take responsibility of your own health.

Because Nobody else will.

The Rest Is Up To You…
