The Problem
In the second decade of second millennium it has never been simultaneously so easy and so hard to have a successful pregnancy.
Never before has information concerning the healthiest diet, lifestyle and antenatal practice been so readily accessible. Never before has such a range of high quality, nutrient-dense food been so readily available.
Yet the incidence of infertility and miscarriage has rapidly increased over the past several decades and continues to rise.
Women are suffering endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, irregular periods and don’t know why. They spend a decade or more of their reproductive life on synthetic hormonal contraceptives that chemically suppress their natural reproductive cycles and then struggle to fall pregnant.
Meanwhile men are suffering a silent epidemic of plummeting sperm counts and low testosterone levels with the male contribution to infertility quietly ignored.
Children are growing up with an alarming rate of facial deformities resulting in malocclusion and mouth-breathing as well as unprecedented rates of autism and behavior disorders.
At the same time there is a profound degree of collective misunderstanding on what constitutes an appropriate human diet. Highly palatable, nutrient-poor processed foods contaminated with artificial additives and industrial agricultural chemicals are ubiquitous.
People lack a fundamental understanding of the necessity of key nutrients and minerals as well as the harms of industrial chemical and xeno-estrogen exposure.
Mainstream obstetric and antenatal care is content to prescribe a handful of ancestrally-inappropriate, nutriceutically-formulated vitamins and minerals that succeed in preventing the most dire of pregnancy complications while ignoring the importance of whole-food nutrition and its importance for a healthy, successful pregnancy.
So today the average Western couple plunges forth without preparation and without a plan. They then become disheartened, dismayed or puzzled when they fail to fall pregnant, suffer a miscarriage or have a pregnancy complication.
More and more are forced to turn to assisted reproductive technologies after trying and failing for years to fall pregnant. They all suffer throughout this heartbreaking process.
The Goal
Every couple wants to have the best chance of conceiving.
Every woman wants the safest, most uncomplicated gestation that minimizes the chance of long-term damage to her body or her future fertility.
Every parent wants the most healthy baby that can fully realize its genetic potential of intelligence, athletic ability and beauty.
But most do not realize that fertility can be maximized, and likelihood of pregnancy complications and future baby’s health problems can be minimized, by optimal diet and lifestyle factors within the spectrum of your genetic potential.
Just as a plant will grow most vigorously and vibrantly with proper sunlight and fertilization, so will a human baby develop optimally if the correct nutrition is provided, and toxins avoided, at the appropriate times.
If the RootCause of this modern epidemic of reproductive disorders is oblivious to mainstream medicine and the modern couple, it would not have been a mystery to traditional peoples.
Ancestral wisdom
Traditional peoples, as documented by Weston A. Price1, had a deep understanding of the importance of nutrition and lifestyle to the success of a pregnancy.
Price observed that traditional people were highly invested in the process of pregnancy optimization. They kept strict cultural practices that maximized the likelihood that the entire process was uncomplicated and productive of the healthiest child.
These practices included:
Strict interval spacing between pregnancies
Pre-marriage and pre-conception feeding rituals for women and sometimes men, often commencing months to years prior to conception
Post-partum rest periods and post-partum dietary regimes for the new mother
The mother-to-be was encouraged to consume a consistent amount of nutrient-dense animal meat, organs, seafood and dairy such that she was at all times in a state of micro-nutrient surplus.

In Nutrition and Physical Degeneration Price writes:
In the first place, the primitive peoples have carried out programs that will produce physically excellent babies. This they have achieved by a system of carefully planned nutritional programs for mothers-to-be. It is important to note that they begin this process of special feeding long before conception takes place, not leaving it, as is so generally done until after the mother-to-be knows she is pregnant. In some instances special foods are given the fathers-to-be, as well as the mothers-to-be…
…Among the primitive Masai in certain districts of Africa, the girls were required to wait for marriage until the time of the year when the cows were on the rapidly growing young grass and to use the milk from these cows for a certain number of months before they could be married…
Traditional people had come to realize that the survival of the tribe depended on the health of each individual member, and every effort was justified in increasing the likelihood that each child grew as healthy as possible.
Unfortunately, this priceless ancestral wisdom, a millennia-old blueprint for a healthy pregnancy, has been forgotten in modern Western culture.
The Fully Optimized Pregnancy
So I am writing this book to address what I believe is a fundamental need – a fertility optimization handbook for the couple in the 21st Century. A guide for having the healthiest pregnancy you are capable.
It aims to help you navigate through the nutritional and mis-informational quagmire that currently serves a range of financial, religious and corporate agendas and places the health of your baby last on the list of priorities.
The foundation of this book is RootCause Medicine — first principles, gold standard scientific reasoning free from corporate capture or influence. The core tenets of this RootCause approach is a return to ancestral dietary practices of eating for micro-nutrient surplus while avoiding a host of modern environmental toxins.
By empowering the individual and the couple with the correct information, I hope to alleviate the suffering of families and set them up for the most happy and healthy life possible.
But it goes deeper than that. As a society, our tribe will only be as strong as its individual members. If we want a society of the smartest, most athletic and most beautiful people then we must collectively re-discover the wisdom of our ancestral past.
Pregnancy optimization is just one facet of what I am calling the #RootCauseRenaissance — a re-invigoration of human society based on the re-creation and fostering of the factors most conducive to human flourishing.
But a warning. This is not a book filled with shortcuts or quick fixes.
This is not a book for the couple who cannot overcome juvenile and socialized aversion to eating organ meats or seafood. It is not for the couple who would prefer to eat home-delivered krispy kreme donuts, icecream and fries every night then pay tens or hundreds of thousands for assisted reproductive technology.
This is a book for those who leave no stone unturned.
This is a book for those who are aware that their lifestyle choices impacts the future health of their children, their children’s children and their children’s children’s children through epigenetic imprinting.
This is a book for those who are conscious of their role as stewards of ancestral genetic material representing thousands of generations of adaptability, survivability, toughness, kindness and human spirit.
This is a book for those building a dynasty and thinking seven generations ahead.
I will provide the blueprint but
The Rest Is Up to You...

Nutrition and Physcial Degeneration by Weston A. Price
Really well laid out, I enjoyed. Such a book would need to be handed out in high school sex ed-- that's when a ton of girls are put on birth control and falling prey to veganism and other fad diets.
I await the release...
